Alone vs lonely
What are the differences between being alone and feeling lonely? To me, being alone can be comfortable as I am an introvert person. At the same time, I rarely feel lonely, perhaps because I like to think when I am alone.
However, not everyone enjoys being alone. My student seems to be troubled by this issue. She is unemployed and has lost two of her best friends recently. Afraid of being lonely, she has been rushing to get a life companion. To make things worse, she has family conflicts as well. It is sad to see she is lost in searching way out and suffer from depression.
I am sympathetic to her, and I have tried to help her to get out from miserable. However, there is an invisible "line" that I shouldn't cross when I am trying to help her as what she needs more is a professional psychologist or counsellor. Her condition prompts me to take a closer look at the need for mental strength, especially when we are in a difficult time. I might share more about how to stay positive in this blog just remind myself and anyone of you the tips of being optimistic.
